About Me
My name is Clare and I am an HCPC registered Art Psychotherapist and full BAAT member based in Belfast. I received my Masters Degree in Art Psychotherapy at Ulster University in 2022 having previously completed a BA Honours in Fine Art at University of the Arts London. I use an integrative and trauma informed approach with my clients and I am passionate about helping clients through connection, compassion, and creative expression. As an allied health professional, I am motivated and committed to delivering a high standard of care at all times.
Experience
Art Therapist Based In Schools: 2 years
In this role I provide one to one art therapy sessions to pupils and deliver wrap around support for parents, carers and school staff. The focus of the service is to improve the emotional well-being of pupils by helping them cope better with life problems. This service offers young people a creative and therapeutic intervention and has been delivered in both primary schools and primary/post-primary special schools.
Grief Specialist/Clinician at Experience Camps: 3 years
Providing psychosocial support for campers and to help maintain a physically and emotionally safe environment while they attend their one-week program at camp. Within my role as a Grief Specialist, I co-facilitate grief-related activities for a bunk of campers including sharing circles, guided bereavement activities, and bunk discussions around grief. The activities offer campers a safe space to express grief-related feelings, develop coping skills, and connect campers with one another.
Trainee Art Therapist at Belfast Secondary School: 1 year
Throughout my Master’s degree in Art Psychotherapy, I completed a year long placement at a Belfast secondary school. Throughout this time I provided therapeutic support to children aged 11-18 through one to one art therapy sessions.
Trainee Art Therapist at Belfast Primary School: 5 months
Throughout my Master’s degree in Art Psychotherapy, I completed a 5 month long placement at a Belfast primary school. Throughout this time I provided therapeutic support to children aged 5-11 in both one to one and group art therapy sessions.
